Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
